I am a Postdoc at the university of Jyväskylä in Jyväskylä, Finland. I got my PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in Summer 2021. I do geometric measure theory (GMT) and analysis on metric spaces.

GMT concerns sets and maps in Euclidean paces and also general metric spaces. Key words are Hausdorff measures, Holder and Lipschitz maps, Rademacher theorem, area formula, coarea inequality, rectifiability, density of Radon measures, etc.

Analysis on metric spaces is basically the study of Sobolev functions on them. Key concepts are Newtonian spaces, Hajlasz gradients, modulus of curve families, Poincare inequality, etc. One other big aspect is the study of quasisymmetric and quasiconformal maps.

Prior to PhD, I got a masters of science from the Sharif University of Technology, Iran.

I write for the AMS graduate blog. Here is link to my articles there: https://blogs.ams.org/mathgradblog/author/besmayli/

Questions on SE and MathOverflow that do not fail to catch my attention are those with the words "distance, metric, Jacobian, measure..." in them!

Why do I post on SE? No math is obvious or too easy. Take any supposedly easy fact from calculus and dig deeper. You will soon reach a nontrivial research level question!
